Hospitality Cart
Sometimes, the most meaningful support meets people exactly where they are.

Ronald McDonald House Oregon’s Hospitality Cart program is designed to do just that — bringing warmth, comfort, and care directly to families with seriously ill or injured children right in the hospital halls where they spend so much of their time.

Our carts roam hospital hallways stocked with everything a family might need in a moment of exhaustion or stress — snacks and treats, coffee, toiletry items, and more. It’s a small but powerful reminder that they are not alone, and that their community is thinking of them.

What makes the Hospitality Cart so special is the breadth of people it reaches. This program doesn’t just serve the families staying with us at Ronald McDonald House Oregon who have traveled from near and far for medical care, it extends our reach to local families navigating a health crisis, the healthcare workers who show up every day to care for our most vulnerable community members, and the hospital staff who dedicate themselves to healing others.

The Hospitality Cart is for everyone.

Run entirely by our volunteers, the Hospitality Cart Program delivers the compassionate hospitality that Ronald McDonald House is famous for to reach more people than ever.

Our four Hospitality Carts currently serve families at:

  • Randall Children’s Hospital in Portland  serving families since 2018
  • Doernbecher Children’s Hospital in Portland serving families since 2018
  • St. Charles Medical Center in Bend serving families since 2019
  • PeaceHealth Sacred Heart Medical Center at RiverBend in Springfield serving families since 2023

Looking to help? Here’s how to volunteer:

  1. Sign Up & Get Onboarded — Hospitality Cart volunteers go through an onboarding process with both Ronald McDonald House Oregon and the partner hospital where they will be serving. This ensures that every volunteer is set up for success and ready to provide the best possible experience for our families.

  2. Show Up & Stock Up — Arrive at your assigned hospital, load up the cart, and hit the halls!

  3. Spread the Love — Deliver snacks, coffee, and comfort items to families and healthcare workers, one hallway at a time.

Can’t volunteer your time? You can still make a difference!
There are other great ways to support the Hospitality Cart program:

Donate Items — Help us stock our carts with snacks, toiletries, and other comfort items that bring a moment of relief to those who need it most.

Make a Monetary Donation — Your contribution helps us keep our carts fully stocked and rolling through hospital halls every day.

Every act of generosity — whether it’s an hour of your time or a box of granola bars — goes a long way in making families, healthcare workers, and hospital staff feel seen, supported, and cared for.
